Support for Individuals and Families

The core mission of ADNet is to encourage and support individuals and families as they live with the reality of disabilities.

All of us have both abilities and disabilities.  ADNet wants to encourage and celebrate the abilities of all persons.

Yet experience has shown that some conditions of physical limitation, developmental condition, cognitive differences, and mental illness need special understanding and support.  The presence of these differences requires special adjustments on the part of others around them to understand, care for, and develop relationships.

ADNet offers these resources for individuals and families living with disability of various types:

  • Supportive Care A model for long-term, person-centered congregational support of individuals with disabilities
  • Resources listed by type of resource: books, videos, newsletters, etc.
  • Topics Additional Resources,  categorized by topic.
  • Online discussion opportunities for sharing information and mutual support.
  • Listing of support groups with Anabaptist connections throughout the U. S.
  • Retreats A listing of retreats with Anabaptist connections for persons with special needs or for entire families that include the person with special needs, or specifically for support of caregivers. Other events for caregivers and professionals with a more informational focus are included in the churches section.
  • Membership in ADNet.  Becoming a member of ADNet means becoming a part of an ongoing community of mutual support and encouragement.
