Outreach Ministries

This page celebrates significant ministries which reach out to specific groups of people that are often otherwise overlooked or marginalized.

Faith and Light
Faith and Light is an international movement of communities made up of persons with intellectual disabilities, their families, and friends, who meet together on a regular basis for Christian worship, to share friendship, and celebrate life.  Web site in French, English, and, Spanish.

Friendship Ministries
Publisher of materials and a comprehensive program for classes for people with mental impairments. Broadly evangelical perspective with a creative approach that utilizes group time as well as one-on-one time between "mentors" and "friends." Can be used as a Sunday school or outreach ministry.

Rest Ministries
Christian organization that serves people who live with chronic illness or pain, & their families, by providing spiritual, emotional, relational, & practical support. They also seek to bring awareness and change  throughout churches in the US, in regard to how people who live with chronic illness or pain are served, and to teach churches effective  tools in ministering to this population.

The Church Growth Movement emphasizes that the church must consciously reach out to different groups of people in their own context and cultural setting. This has led to the formation of some unique ministries especially established for persons with particular needs. Indeed, before we can have any hope of including marginalized persons in our community, the church must meet them at their point of need. As an Anabaptist community, we hope that such outreach attempts don't stop at bringing persons with similar physical and/or mental conditions into their own little group. That's why we go on to advocate an appropriate spirituality and discipleship and especially including such persons in the life of the larger community of faith.
