The Administrative Team (ADTeam)

ADNet entered a new phase of staffing on September 1, 2004.

Paul D. Leichty, Anabaptist Disabilities Network Director Paul Leichty was appointed at the July 2004 Board meeting to serve half-time as ADNet's first Network Director.  In 2008, the title was changed to Executive Director and hours were increased slightly.

The Board also retained the services of Sheila Stopher Yoder who had originally served as Coordinator of the ADTeam in the start-up phase of ADNet's existence.  However, at the beginning of 2005, Sheila left the ADTeam due to increased responsibilities with Anabaptist Deaf Ministries (ABDM) and primarily at Goshen College as Assistant Professor of American Sign Language (ASL).  Currently, Sheila is an ASL translator in the Middlebury Community School district in Indiana.  She continues in a consulting role with ADNet around issues of deafness and also accessibility.  In late 2009, Sheila was named Project Manager of ABDM working several hours a week from the same office as ADNet.

The remaining three members of the original ADTeam continue to support ADNet while moving on to other primary responsibilities.

  • Cindy Baker served in youth ministry in her congregation until 2009 when she began a job helping families at risk.  She continues to have a consultant role in a number of areas for ADNet
  • Joyce Pankratz and her family moved to Kansas.
  • Sherry Wenger served on the ADTeam in a volunteer role until the spring of 2005 when she resumed her career in nursing. She is currently Professor of Nursing at Goshen College.  Her husband, Curt, still serves as volunteer bookkeeper of ADNet.

Additional volunteer ADTeam members, Phyllis Smith and Mary Graber were named in the spring of 2005.  However, as the Board and its Executive Committee have taken more responsibility for oversight of the work of the ADNet in general and the Director in particular, the role of ADTeam diminished.  Phyllis continues to serve in a volunteer role helping with ADNet mailings and displays.  Mary serves on the Advisory Committee.

Other volunteers serve in the office or for occasional special tasks.  In March 2006, a new Associates Program was initiated.
