Christine Guth
Program Associate

On October 12, 2008, Christine Guth was licensed for specialized ministry through ADNet by the Central District Conference of Mennonite Church USA. While a student at Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary (AMBS), Christine discovered a desire to minister to individuals and families affected by disability out of the brokenness and healing that she had experienced.  In 2006, she shared her growing sense of call with ADNet and the result was the formation of ADNet's Associates Program.

In early 2008, Christine was named as a permanent (though still volunteer) member of ADNet's staff as Program Associate. She sought licensing for specialized ministries in order to gain formal accountability to the wider church for this ministry.  She believes that licensing expresses and invites wider recognition that the church's mission includes the call for greater inclusion of people with disabilities. Read the news article about Christine's licensing.

Christine graduated from AMBS on May 19, 2007 with a Master of Divinity degree. Her ongoing staff role as Program Associate involves writing, consultation, preaching and teaching, with particular interests in the autism spectrum and mental health. She is available for consultation and speaking assignments, especially in churches within driving distance of northern Indiana.

Articles and Resources by Christine Guth
  The Gerasene Disciple, Mark 5:1-20,

Two articles on Mark 5:1-20 reflect on the story of a man from whom Jesus cast out a legion of unclean spirits (often called the Gerasene Demoniac). While not equating demon possession with mental ilness, author Christine Guth suggests that persons with mental illness find much to identify with in the character in this story.

Both articles were originally published in the Journal of Religion, Disability and Health, Vol. 11(4) 2007.
