The Executive Committee
The current Executive Committee serves as the main committee of the ADNet Board of Directors and is empowered to make decisions on behalf of the Board in between Board meetings. The Committee consists of the officers of the Board (President, Vice-president, Secretary, and Treasurer) and the Executive Director, ex officio. From the organization and founding of ADNet in 2002-03 until the ADNet Board was commissioned in January 2004, the original founding group of five persons (see picture at right) functioned as both a Board and staff and was called the "Executive Committee." With the commissioning of the Board, the term "Executive Committee" reverted to its more normal usage as a committee of the Board. As the Board met less frequently, the Executive Committee assumed more decision-making responsibilities, usually meeting via telephone conference call between annual Board meetings. Minutes of the meetings before February 2004 reflect the old configuration of the Executive Committee. Minutes of the meetings from August 2004 to 2008 are from the present Executive Committee. In October 2008, the Board decided that the telephone conference calls would be for the entire Board. Thus, the Executive Committee has not met regularly since that time. Executive Committee members consult via email and serve as a Nominating Committee and Personnel Committee as needed. |
