Support for Individuals and Families
The core mission of ADNet is to encourage and support individuals and families as they live with the reality of disabilities.

In reality, all of us have both abilities and disabilities.  ADNet wants to encourage and celebrate the abilities of all persons.

At the same time, experience has shown that there are some conditions due to physical limitations, developmental conditions, cognitive differences, and mental illness, that require special understanding and support.  The presence of these disabilities in a person requires special adjustments on the part of everyone around them to understand, care for, and develop relationships.

In this section, ADNet offers these resources for individuals and families:

  • Online discussion opportunities for sharing information and mutual support.
  • Listing of support groups throughout the U. S. that we are aware of.  These groups have at least some links to the Anabaptist community and understanding of our particular faith perspective.
  • Retreats.  This is a listing of retreats either for persons with special needs, for entire families that include the person with special needs, or specifically for support of caregivers. Other events for caregivers and professionals with a more informational focus are included in the churches section.
  • Membership in ADNet.  Becoming a member of ADNet means becoming a part of an ongoing community of mutual support and encouragement.
